Tropicman - Very nice grouping of plants you have there! They all compliment each other beautifully! Thanks for sharing your photos and ideas of what you can grow with MGs! :-)

Thanks
This year I tried to group different plants with or close to the the same color scheme.
Just getting them to bloom at the same time has been my let down!!!
That and one plant trying to over take the others,as well as the whole garden!!!LOL

Yes sir! Some plants can bully the rest of the garden! That's when I get out the heavy guns (pruners) and start chopping away! I get out there and beat them back with my whip! LOL!

Those are gorgeous blooms; I tried the snail vine years ago when T&M use to stock it then they stopped.

I have had that problem in the garden of vines taking over, sometimes these rogue vines lull you into a false sense of security before you know it they take over.

With all the storms and wind we have had the rogue vines collapsed on themselves, at least it gives room for the smaller vines to grow and blossom and start being able to breath again.

I just hope they don't come back again to choke everything out; I might have to borrow your whip then Becky, sounds like you have been using it lately

Pruners, baby! Sharp pruners!!! Works every time! LOL!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Yep,mine are coming out next week, and when I'm done the sun will shine again!!!!
There's a whole other jungle under that mess too!!!
Sun hits it will burn for sure!!!LOL

Just bought a new set of pruners too, guess I'll get a work out!!!!
I can feel the pain in my shoulders already!!

It just dawned on me ... you are a friend of Debra!

She posted a couple of photos of your gardens on an earlier thread:

You have a beautiful tropical paradise which is especially amazing given the fact that you live in Kansas and not down here in Florida! LOL!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Yes ,Debra has been a dear friend!!!
Her daughter lives a couple blocks to the north of me and her son lives a few blocks to the south of me,so I'm right in her path when she visits her kids!!!
Yep she says she doesn't know how I do it,growing a tropical jungle in Kansas!!!
Yep thats my garden, missing the gazing ball, baseball size hail took it out couple weeks ago.
Strong winds and 100* heat today took a toll too,I have to go in and do some strong pruning next week!!!!!

Is it in a pot?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

yup.. ones in the ground are still pretty short.. but they will get going I am sure..

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Just need lot of water!!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

You know, that is all I do besides take pictures.. water.. admire, pluck seeds..Pull weeds..pick off worms and bugs.. water..take pictures, sniff, touch, admire... I get all kacited over a new bloom ...
My Ivy is blooming again.. this is the second year in 23 years I have seen it bloom on the north side of the house.. It eats the north side, but the birds enjoy it for a home, and it is added insulation in the winter time.

On your castor beans in the ground, are they perennials for you, or do you reseed every year? Planted one this year for the first time, and would love to know what to expect.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

I only wish!!!
No I save the seeds in the fall to replant again in the spring!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Don, I have a big fat pod of this for you and patty( the pink one)

I am just so happy that the town deer have left me a few MG flowers! I am so sick of them robbing my plants and "pruning" everything. But I do have 3 now that just bloomed today!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Thanks
