This may sound silly, but can a spider trap another spider in its web? I would think the non-web forming spiders could become prey to a web-spinner, but can one web-spinner trap another web-spinner?
CLOSED: Spiders and webs
Just about anything is possible, but I feel that this scenario is somewhat unlikely, as web-spinning spiders tend to stay in their own web (except for males wandering about in search of a mate). If for whatever reason a web-spinning spider found itself in a web of a different species, it may well be at risk of getting stuck, as its legs likely would not be the proper length to reach the non-sticky web strands.
Thanks Ed. I was watching a wolf spider scurry across a wall very close to a garden spider's web and was curious....not enough to make it empirical...didn't want to ruin the wolf spider's day. Grin
