I know they may not even be considered a lily / but my question what is the difference?
I have the plant below and am not sure what to call it.
Question? candy lily / blackberry lily
It's beautiful but just not a true lily. More on it here:

Thank you for the info ...a good read.
Is a candy lily the same thing?
I believe so.
Candy lilies are closely related and come in a wider array of colors http://www.bluestoneperennials.com/b/bp/PACLP.html?mv_pc=dgar

As Moby says, they are different but related.
Blackberry Lily (Iris domestica, formerly Belamcanda chinensis) is a species iris.
Candy Lily is a hybrid. A crossing of Iris domestica and Pardanthopsis dichotoma, resulting in a hybrid group called Pardancanda norrisii (or Candy Lilies). The genus name (Pardancanda) is a marrying of the two genus names (belamcanda and Pardanthopsis), and to be most correct, the taxonomic name of the hybrid is ×Pardancanda norrisii, explicitly signifying that it is a generic cross (a cross of genera, not species within the same genus).
Thank you all so much you have been very helpful.
I think I will try to grow some from the seeds I save and if they all come ''true '' I will assume I have Blackberry lilies.

It occurred to me that I didn't finish completely, in that I only gave the technical difference. Admittedly, I do get off on that, but it's not what most people care about.
I wish I knew a simple way to tell them apart, but I don't. Your're right in that if your seeds come up different colors, you know it is definitely Candy lily, and that if they all produce the same orange flowers it is most likely Blackberry lily.
The generallities that I do know is that Candy lilies (around 3-4ft) are larger plants than Blackberry lilies (around 2-3ft). Flower size seems to be about the same. The six petals on a blackberry lily tend to be very uniform, while on Candy lilies, three are usually a bit larger and often with slightly or completely different coloring. Also, Candy lilies are more vigorous that Blackberry lilies, and seem to be more cold hardy.
I am guessing that your picture flower is a Candy lily.

So LW...I have some big ole tall monsters that I assumed were blackberry lilies. The colors are all that same consistent orange of my other blackberry lilies. They are at least as tall as I am...5'5. What do you think? Exceptionally happy bb's or candy lilies?
I would be 95% sure that anything that big would have to be a Candy lily.
Cool! Thanks for the input. I must get out there and cut back those seedpods. They've got the monster lilies laying over on the ground. Should I save any for anyone? Amazing.
