beginner question

Simpsonville, SC(Zone 7b)

Hi, I need your expertise for an easy question. This is my first year risking growing Morning Glory here in SC. It's considered invasive by many, but I'm keeping a close eye on my beauty, bagging every seed pod. I'm growing Ipomoea Nil, Mt. Fuji, deep purple.

I read in the sticky that MGs will cross, but my question is this, will this one come true from seed if it hasn't crossed? There are no other MGs nearby in my yard, just one a bird planted in the back.

Thanks for your help. I don't want to misrepresent the seed, if I get enough to trade!

kistuart - It will likely come true from seed given it's growing situation. But I always tell folks when I trade with them that it was open pollination, so there is always the possibility of a cross.

I prefer crosses, so I would welcome such seeds if the possibility were there! :-)

I wouldn't worry too much about a cross. I think your seeds will probably grow true!

here in sc i havent seen one yet that has completely taken over my yard except blue dawn(indica) and that can easy be controled by pulling up the vines or growing in a pot.

i also have mgs in pots that seeds have fallen from and those come up and the ones i dont want you just pull. i have never had any here take over my yard or become out of control.

i am in sc also. been growing them for years. shoot even the onbes they say are invasive here are well behaved. so dont worry Keep them in pots and enjoy them

Thanks, it's beautiful, so I'll try more next year!
