The bug in the image is called a shield bug, but true shield bugs now are placed in a separate family, Acanthosomatidae - see http://tinyurl.com/n9dtx3

Having looked Codophilia varia on Google I found another shield bug that looks even more like my picture - Carpocoris mediterraneus. Very similar!

I believe that Carpocoris mediterraneus is a much better match; I didn't take as much time on this one as I should have. Good work!
