I read in one place (a mystery story, actually) that if the seeds from pale hollyhocks are rigorously removed, it makes the bed keep a lot of dark hollyhocks. On the other hand, I think I've read that hollyhocks revert to the pale colors, even though the seeds are from the dark ones. Does anyone know the true story?
TIA

Do hollyhocks come true from seed?
I have grown 'Nigra' and 'Peaches and Cream' both of which have come true from seed for me. But then again, it could be just dumb luck.
