I have been finding tomatoes with holes eaten out of them. I finally found a culprit, this caterpillar is the source. What is it?
CLOSED: Eating My Tomatoes!
This caterpillar is in the family Noctuidae; it may be Helicoverpa (Heliothis) zea - see http://tinyurl.com/leabk9 for an example; this caterpillar shows considerably variation in color pattern. It has a very wide host plant range, but is most damaging on tomatoes (where it is called the tomato fruitworm) and corn (where it is known as the corn earworm).
Yeah that looks right. Thanks!
