Hi, i live in Wales in the UK and came across a scary looking spider today. im not a spider lover anyway but was intrigued with this one as i had never seen anything like it. i apologise for the poor quality of the picture but i wasnt getting any closer than absolutely necessary. It has black legs and body and although the pic makes it look like the body is completly green, its more of a green triangle on its back. Any suggestions gratefully received.
thanks,
Leanne
Yet another spider identification... sorry
I hope that you could overcome your fears (this is not a dangerous spider) and take a clearer photo - as it is, I would hesitate even to identify the family, let alone guess at the species. The only spider native to Britain that has a bite of any concern is the false widow spider, Steatoda nobilis - see http://tinyurl.com/26xbnl
Thanks Suunto, I took a friend with me to the area i spotted it earlier armed with a better camera but the little blighter has gone into hiding. I guess i may never know.
Thanks for your help anyway,
Leanne
