Which species is this? I knew once, but forgot.. it attacks Passiflora vines and ignores everything else in the yard.
CLOSED: Frittalary butterfly
Yikes...pretty sure it's a Gulf Fritillary, Agraulis vanillae:

palmbob,
I have the exact same thing happening in my yard. For the past 2 years they got every leaf... forget the flowers.
This year the vines are growing faster than the caterpillars can eat it so I actually had a few flowers. I think the main reason for this is fewer butterflies too. I have several neighbors who 'fog' their yards to keep the mosquitoes from bothering them. :-( It can't be good for butterflies. Not many swallowtails recently either.
