Fish Emulsion

My plants are my children! LOL

(Bre) Sellersville, PA(Zone 7a)

Id trade my children for some good plants ^_^

Dandridge, TN(Zone 6a)

HA HA HAA, I love it!!

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

The plants are so appreciative, they bloom, smell pretty, sit there and just seem to spread joy. Kids, that's another story. I raised four of them and maybe if I had given them fish emulsion for breakfast it would have been easier to keep track of them. They are all grown now, but at one point in my life it was hectic and they all went in different directions as they grew into the teens. Oh my God, I have no idea how I survived that.
Flowers are so much easier. Hugs to you all and have a wonderful day. JB, the very old lady who hates the smell of the fish emulsion. Leaving so close to the ocean you would think I would be used to it. Hmmmmmm.

Bat guanno is also good, but stinky. I just have to go down the street to scoop it up.
I filmed the Waugh Bridge Bat Colony exiting the bridge last night, was something else! I put it in this weeks blog called OH BATS!

wow! bat guanno. ew! I bet some bat guanno in my garden will keep the deer away...

Dandridge, TN(Zone 6a)

Wow. great footage. That would really be something to see. Did I read somewhere that "they" want the city to get rid of the bats or lower the population somehow? What a shame, if it is true.

Good blog! I'm going to try your peroxide for the algae in my rainbarrels.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh no, the city protects the bats.
Let me know how the peroxide works for ya.

Well, i went to the local farm/garden supply store 'Doties' and purchased a jug of fish emulsion. I added to a 2 gallon watering can like the directions said and watered every plant I had with it. Now I just wait and see! I got 1.5 inches of rain after I did it so i hope i didn't just wash it all away!

Dandridge, TN(Zone 6a)

I think the cheapest I found it was at Walmart, I think it is called Alaskan Fish Fertlizer or Emulsion, I'd have to look at the bottle. It's really concentrated. I also bought a Bonine version that was much more watery.

Winter Haven, FL(Zone 9b)

I bought some stuff and it was thich! Like a milkshake! I mixed 4 tablespoons of this emulsion with 2 gallons of water and poured it on 3 or 4 plants at a time.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I've used the fish emulsion for a few months now and the petunias are lush. They were only meant as cover for the pots holding tree roses. It was the roses that I wanted to see with lush growth! I'll keep using it since it's working well for all the containers.

Winter Haven, FL(Zone 9b)

I used it on all my plants yesterday and flies were everywhere! ha ha. It was raining hard last evening and my dog normally does her buisness and comes right back, no, no, no... She had to investigate what this smell coming from EVERYWHERE was. She got soaked because she was too intrigued.

Dandridge, TN(Zone 6a)

That's funny, Dan. At least she didn't go and try to eat it!

Winter Haven, FL(Zone 9b)

I am sure if I wasn't watching over her shoulder she would have been covered in fishy mulch ha ha ha.

I decided to finish the half gallon bottle that had been languishing.... then I had to immediately take a shower, YUK.
But I did it on the neighbor's side ^_^

Dandridge, TN(Zone 6a)

Hee hee.

Maybe that's why I'm more popular with my dogs than my husband is. Ha. No, it's because I do the feeding.

This spring I used an organic oil product for bugs, the base was sesame oil, now, that stunk! I couldn't get the smell out of my clothes, even after several washings.

Sarasota, FL

I quit using it! Was using liquid kelp for orchid supplement and my supplier ran out. Only thing available was liquid fish/kelp. One night around 2 am I heard pop, pop, pop! A stupid raccoon or oppossom was up in my hanging orchids at the stink and broke over 10 orchid pots.
Never again!

I am sorry, that is not funny, but I am laughing. I thought that only happens to people like me. LOL Thanks for sharing. JB

Caddo Mills, TX(Zone 8a)

Where are you buying your fish emulsion? The walmart here isn't selling it anymore.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

I honestly do not remember. I looked it up on the google search and found it. I am sorry I can not be more helpful. JB

If I can find the receipt I will certainly give you the information. Off I go to hunt it,.

Winter Haven, FL(Zone 9b)

I get mine from a local farm/garden supplier
