All the buds on my Sumatra look like this. I've never seen this before. It's not normal, is it?

The flowers seem to be OK though. At least so far.

I had some strange things happening this year never seen before. Since we had so much rain, I blamed it on that even though we have good drainage. I thought perhaps I might have burned some of the tender buds going after the red lily beetle. I think it only happened on the asiatics, but cannot be certain. On a few new plants, the buds failed to mature.
