Propagating Anthurium...

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

My Anthurium seems pretty healthy, as it looks like it will get too big for where I have it at the moment. It's in a container with two other plants in my bathroom, about 4.5 feet from a large curtain-filtered and frosted west-facing window. It has begun to lean a little like it wants more light, and has not produced any more "flowers" besides the one that it came with about two months ago. I re-potted it into regular Miracle Grow potting soil when I got it, which looks like it may have been the wrong thing to do - even though the plant still seems fine. It must like the misting I give it, and the humidity generated when the shower is used. But, from what I've read, they like good drainage and dry-time - and the potting mix seems to never dry out!

I would like to try propagating this plant, and trying a soil-less growing medium and more light to get more "flowers"... but I can't figure out what an "herbaceous stem cutting" is exactly, how to take it properly - or if that's even the best thing to do! I'm not opposed to re-potting the whole container if need be...

I'm a total novice at gardening, and broke to boot... so I can't afford to buy fancy equipment - but I'm thrifty, good with directions and love DIY projects.

Any suggestions? Thanks!
