I have not been able to find a single picture of this same spider online. I live in northern california and my house has become over run with these guys. They seem a little aggressive and are about the size of a penny. It used to be a different type of brown house spider that I would commonly find around the house but now its only this type that I find. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
This is a ground spider (family Gnaphosidae - see http://tinyurl.com/ad28u3 for some examples. They are active hunters like wolf spiders, and are harmless to humans.
