Living in North Florida, we get a LOT of wolf spiders (I mean at least one every two days in my house!). However, the size, posture (meaning that most of the wolf-ies I've witnessed weren't quite as "flat" in posture as this guy), and hairs (this guy is more downy and grey compared to the dark brown and less hairy friends that visit) suggest to me that I'm not dealing with my usual customer.
Any help IDing the little (well, not quite- he's quite a bit bigger than our usual wolf spiders. He's (and this could be a she for all I know, or care) a bit smaller than the palm of your hand) critter.
Thanks!
Tallyguy
CLOSED: Spider ID Please!
This not a wolf spider, but a close relative. It is a fishing spider (family Pisauridae), specifically, it appears to be Dolomedes albineus, the white-banded fishing spider - see http://tinyurl.com/n6xydq
You are absolutely right!
Thanks for your help!
wow, always wondered what those flat ones were. thanks, suunto.
