July Gessie pictures, part 3
You didn't plant all of yours at once (you were smart)........I planted all of mine and then when they took over the house I had to get rid of them...................
NO thanks.....you are nice to offer........don't have space for what I am doing now.............she is pretty though.
You don't need a new camera........these are really darn good pictures!
Nice pix, everyone!
Does anyone know . . . is it common for the babies of a non-variegated AV to have variegated leaves? I have a baby plantlet of Heritage Frolic, and the leaves are mostly white, with a bit of green along the main vain, and some green shading on the leaf edges . . .
Isn't it pretty? I guess we will just have to wait and see . . . ^_^
looks like a sinningia to me,
bonnie
And a really pretty one at that!!!
I love it because it's so dainty looking.
Imadigger, wish I knew her name (knowing you do, too)..........are you playing Bingo with us in August? We would love to have you!
gail
It's a mini Sinningia, but I don't know which one--wish I did cos I would like one! Really pretty!
Wow.........Ember Lace surpasses all my expectations with her pink bloom.......didn't know that!!
I love the pretty pink leaves on Ember Lace. I don't seem to have much luck with streps or epicia. Looks like I'll have to stick with violets and maybe tiny sinns. LOL I have a few florist glox, and they do OK.
your ember lace is a beauty.

Sally, Where do you get your moss? Can't find any here. Yes, I love the Ember Lace too!!!! I have been placed on a waiting list...sold out. You can really make beautiful arrangements! I pop over to the other forum and "lurk" at the pics.

Thank you. The pinks and red Episcia's are really something and the variegated Ember Lace is amazing. I have another too. Both under glass, I took the top off for the photo. The picture with no glass is before I used glass on them. They really need to be in a humid place like the Cleopatra's. They just "go to TOWN" under glass. :)
I get the spagnum moss at my nursery, Connie. In a long bag, packed in there. I use gloves when I work with the moss.
Yes, I have seen you on the other forum, thanks, so many wonderful pictures here at Dave, so much to learn and share!
I think there is a ghost on this computer today LOL! I must have pushed keys and didn't know it. I have not been drinking :) I will see if I can find some at the florist shops. We don't have what you would call nurseries here and it is so hard to find material that you need. Home Depot and Wal-mart just doesn't cut it. I was told that the Ember Lace needs to be in a glass container. Do you remove the lid periodically or just keep it on? Looks like it loves it in there. Thanks!
There are several ways to grow the lighter episcias without SM.......I don't use it.............I just put some perlite in the bottom of the container....and then the light soil less mix.........cover the top and they grow quickly..........I admit the moss is pretty, but just remember the florist wouldn't have the real spaghnum moss......only the decorative kind..........
I might not be able to find any. I just wanted to dress it up a bit. I told you I was staining my deck. We are adding railing as I get it stained. It is so close to being done...touch ups and steps. My neighbor brought over this feeder he made and I stained it to match the deck. Here is what I saw this morning :)
Connie, I leave the lids on my Cleopatra's and Ember Lace plants ALLLLL the time. I accidentally left a lid off of one of my Cleopatra's over night and OH MY she was almost dead. That was a shock to her I am sure. I took the bad leaves off and put the lid back on and hoped for the best. She came back just fine. A florist might be able to order it for you.
The plants are big and doing great. I am really happy.
Thanks, Sally! I have one with a lid ready for Ember once she gets shipped.
I can't wait to see!
Wowser, she is exceptional!! I am just growing chirita leaves everywhere..............I found some leaves on Cedar Creek Violet...........
I got babies of two species on LLG.......but that was all that was good about that order..........
species 'Liboensis' (sp?) and species brassicoides 'Marble'.........they are small babies.
DAvid Thomspon sent you a plant that small???????????????????????????
That upsets me since all of mine are so large!!!
This is entirely too quiet on the av forum home front.
Weather report from Taft, Texas today and tomorrow. Only 99 degrees but heat index of 108 with winds gusting 45 mph...........This must be like the dust bowl during the depression! (but still smiling.........sorta)
We need pictures to lift our spirits. So, I just took a few.
Those who know me won't believe I am spending every day in air conditioning potting up african violets. I had forgotten how much fun they really are. Here are some beginners.
Goldleaf, notice your Glitter Fountains on the far right and see that they came from a leaf you sent.
