Forgot to mention=== both pumpkins that grew 5 inches past 24 hours====both have stem splits. They are surface splits. They do not go deep. They do reach the edge ---where stem stops and pumpkin begins. This is not good. The ground is still saturated and the pumpkins could grow just as much by morning. They could split into flesh.

How old is the Leonzi Pat? Days old?
I put my puter in shop yesterday. Got it out this morning. Spent all day uploading, downloading, getting set back up.
275 was 10 days old today. 36 1/2 " cc.
898 was 11 days old today. 32 1/2 " cc.
I bought some stuff to spray on the 898 to help slow down the fungus/mildew. Hope it works. Will spray in the morning.
275 patch is awfully wet. Most of the plant wilts during the day. Perky early morning and late evening. I don't think the roots can breath.
I put a captan paste on the shallow stem splits.
Such fast growth! My regular pumpkin took several weeks to get to just 26" circumference.
275, Day 11= 39"cc ( I assumed it would not grow much with problems it is having) I hope it perks up as the ground dries.
898, Day 12= 37"cc. Catching up with 275
I will post pictures today after I install camera software.

I am fighting off all the little punkin's the bees are leaving me with. I cull another 5 or 6 in the last few days. And I have noticed on my 3rd plant a few more I hadn't seen before.
You think the larger one will be too old by the time of the fair?
Cricket. I am really worrie d for you. Down her e it been dry as a doornail and we nee d rain so bad, but it suppose d to be coming wed for a week we suppose d to be getting more rain. Are you scheduled to get it too? I hope it misses you somehow so much of it so yorus can grow. You put so much time and heart into it.
No but at the Official Weight off I can win some money. :)
Last year I would of had 5th place and possible 4th place.

How's ya all pumpkins doing? The totals getting on up their now?
Sorry, nothing works around here any more. The modem went out on my computer , then my husbands mother died and i just took time to get the modem replaced.
The vines on my pumpkin plants had so many rotten spots that it wasn't doing much for the pumpkins.
I pulled the plants up and cleaned up the area. I never even took pictures cause I still havent loaded photo software to computer yet.
The only pumpkin I had was estimated 87 pounds when i pulled the plant up.......
It was about 27 days old. I will have to elevate the ground next time so the vines don't sit in water during heavy rain fall.
I did not notice----but one of my greenhouses collected a swimming pool on top during all the rain we had that seems to be gone now and it caused half of the greenhouse structure to cave in. I been busy cleaning up that mess too. It was a 16x96 ....
Congrats Pat==== im sure its goin to be alot of fun.
Happy Gardening
Cricket
Cricket you've had such rotten luck this year that if there's any justice you should have smooth sailing next year. I sure hope so. I've missed your fantastic growing/posting. I copied your tomato fertilizer and had unbelievable production. Thank you very much for that.
Pat what's going on with your punkins?
Sorry to hear your bad news, Cricket.
Not much has happened here, I have been very busy, I had surgery on my knee, but am doing much better now.
I have my Tripod built to lift it with and have 30 days to go.

It's clear the 1112 will not make my target weight, but it is the one I will enter in the Tulsa State Fair.
My 1081 plant is still going strong, but the 1112 plant has gone down. I have 2 weeks until the Weight off, but I haven't seen any measurable growth for weeks, that tells me all the growth is taking place on the inside. I hope to set a very heavy pumpkin on the scale on Oct 3rd.
If any body is close to Republic MO on the 3rd you might stop and see the WO.
Please take pics if ya can whiel ya doing it to show us folsk that can't make it to the WO.
Is it possible that it just got to much fertilizer at oen point that now maybe something els e is tie d up and it not growing?
Crossing finger s ya have a win and get some good priz e money and bragging rights. : )
I watched an interesting show on PBS last night about the pumpkin contest in Cooperstown, Ncalled Lord of the Gourds. It followed several contestants in their pursuit of the big weigh off prize. Very fascinating!
http://www.pbs.org/previews/lordsofthegourd/
I have a DVD of that show, I know one of the featured growers. I understand completely what they are going through. We have had 12 days of rain out of the last 16, my little Pumpkin has gone down and the big one has a bad case of vine rot. I am hoping I can hang on my another 17 days until WO.
Their is another Pumpkin in the state that is measuring bigger than mine.
I know what ya do. heheheheheh I know folsk down aroudn here would take vodka and inject it in the watermelons befor e eating.
Mayeb ya cna get yoru pumkin tipsy to weigh mroe adn beat out that other pumpkin. LOL
Seriously I hope when yorus hti s the scale it the biggest and the heaviest and you win.
We all rootign for ya.
What means "gone down"??? Collapsed with rot?
Big soft spot in the side. It won't last long now.
My Big Pumpkin is about to lose the main as well, it has rained 14 days this month.
thats disappointing====so sorry.
Alabama has a new state flower= "Mildew"
Georgia has a new state flower= "Seaweed"
Cricket.... That is just to funny and so true. Everythign her e gettign the fuzzies.
Amigatec.. Is ther e anyay you cna maybe slip somethign udner the main vine to get it off the ground and maybe use velcro to try and keep the vine together?
I knwo we us e velcro on stems and such all the time little piece s for bent broken stems and such with it. little pieces. The velcro hold s thigns together and yet lets the parts breath to keep them from rotting. Even if you could lift just a coupel inche s off the ground so maybe it could dry out more.
What happenes when ya go to lif t it. Wil you have to rethink your sling and such so it don't bust open on ya?
Man, oh man ya so close, too clos e to have things go wrong now.
I don't knwo if you cna do this too or not, or if it would eleiminate your pumpkin. can you maybe spray the sof t spot side with liek that liquid bandage to help firm it up a bit?
I cut it off the vine yesterday and removed half the stem, sprayed it with fungicide, packed it with foot powder and have a fan blowing in it. I have 10 days until weight off.
I think I will make it.
good luck!
Thanks for sharing your pumpkin experience.
Oh my look at that big pumkin going down the road. I bet ya stop traffic when folks see what ya got in the back.
Good Luck. Hope ya coem home with one of the prizes. : )
Crossing fingers for ya
Awesome!! Congratulations!
That makes it all worth it!
