Just now found this thread and want to say thank you for posting your story. Your rebuilt garden is beautiful and knowing what you have been through inspires and encourages me at a time when I really need encouragement to finish rebuilding our destroyed landscape. Especially love your fence.

What happened to the flake of a contractor? Hope you fired him or sued him for damages. Sorry that happened to you. But it seems as if you have moved on past it. keep thanking God that there was no loss of life and you've recovered from all of the emotional stress related to it and that contractor.

I haven't been on Daves in a LONG time. i was a regular contributor... I just thought I'd stop in a see what was pictured.. See.. my home burned on June 17th of this past year. We were all fine and got out, but I lost many things, and my restoration company stole as much as they could from what else remained. My house was not leveled, but gutted down to the studs on the interior. My garden, while still there, has been trampled, stepped on, pots broken instead of moved.. My saved garden seeds were all ruined. Within the first minute of meeting my builders foreman, I expressed how extremely important my yard and garden was to me and that he was to keep it safe. My grass was lined with stakes and tape, to keep workers trucks off of it. The power company removed the stakes and tape and drove through the wet yard, trenching it with their bucket truck. I got their just a few minutes afterward and was in complete disbelief that they would have been so lazy and ruin my yard when they could use a ladder to get up the power pole. They told me the foreman gave them the permission (which he had just lied to me about) so i questioned him in front of the powers guys and caught him in a lie. This was the same foreman that sat on his butt in his truck as roofers threw sheets of destructive plywood and roofing materials into my garden and I had to stop them. I have never in all my life ripped someone's butt apart like I did after discovering his lie. I screamed while the power co guys and he just stared in disbelief. He wont speak to me now and I don't care. My builder and I had it out afterward and I stood my ground. I should be back in my house by Feb./March, and I am really glad you posted. It warms my heart to see your garden rise again. Mine will too.. Its just been a really challenging ordeal. Here is my garden in better days :) It will be that way and better once again. I so look forward to getting out there and working :) http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/774521/ , Susan
