Allotment Tour 2009
Man, yours is the standout one for sure! The only ones that could compete are the double plots for their fruiting fruit trees!, But yours is the most pleasing to the eye.
Thanks for sharing that with us terri.
Sue
Hi Sue, Thanks for visiting and for the compliments! lol. blush!!!
Have they ever done the judging terri? Bet you came in right up front. I agree with Sue only the double lots have more to give than yours. I'll bet you do love the deadheading in there!
W
Hi Candee, they have done the judging but have not put any notices up on the board yet!
I like to do my bit for the community... It's due for a tidy up! LoL!
So sad to see the fruits on the ground, some folks haven't picked their goodies. One plotholder (the last one) hasn't been back since she cleared and planted... everything is going to waste... whats the point?
Perhaps something has happened unforeseen to that plotholder and they have not been able to return. Maybe they suddenly moved away and left all those goodies up for grabs?
Hi all, back from holidays, and I too am surprised that no one picked and ate the brocolli or cauliflowers that were ready! I had someone watering and someone pet minding and the offer was there to take what came ready, but no one did. Yes Tez, I agree,...........whats the point?
Sue
Its just looking fabulous Tez! I bet you get such pleasure when you visit it! And aren't those houses who live nearby just lucky to get such a good view?
I can almost smell your flowers!
Sue
I had the same thought Sue when I saw that last post of terri's , how lucky are those neighbors and just imagine the aroma with all those plots!
Happy visiting Tez. Nothing to see in my patch at the moment, but I'll be doing some work on it in the next few weeks

this is the link to my Darwin trip, but its not finished yet. Drop in for a look if you get the time.
Sue
Now where did they come from? I never noticed any potted stuff on the lottie before.
Hey Sue are you back from holiday already? Man did that ever fly by? I'll go take a peek right now.
Terri - they look ready now. I normally pick them when the tassels starts to brown. Some people like the corn kernels riper, others really young. I don't like them too young because there is too little bulk there to eat.
Have a great visit - see you back in a few weeks.
We had a project in the middle of a cornfield once, and when the stalks gets taller than you and you have to walk down the rows to get from one site to the next, you really have to protect your face. Those corn leave edges are deadly. My daughter joined us for part of that summer and here's a photo of us in full face gear to brave the corn plants. By the way, that is field corn they are growing (food for critters) so they let them dry out and is totally brown before they are harvested. Terri - do not let your corn get like that before you pick them LoL
Hey that looks a lot like the bandits I saw in the Sunflower patch lol! I am gonna have to get Steven over here to take a look at this!
Seriously Dianne, I know what you mean, there is a cornfield of what we refer to as "field corn" across the road from us, the deer love it especially this time of year, but it is brutal to walk through.
