Allotment Tour 2009

Welcome to our allotment in South London, There are 39 plots, most plot holders are growing vegetables, flowers and fruits.
Follow me along the path for a quick look at the plots. ....

This is the main pathway with plots on the left and right.
I will walk along taking pictures on the left side until the end of the path then show the right side on my way back!

Terriculture, Thank you for allowing me to visit. It's amazing how much diversity the gardeners are able to get into their plots. I wonder what was in those red bottles. They look very exotic amidst the green cabbages. Is there any penalty if one doesn't use their allotment or keep it up to 'standards'? Looking forward to visiting with you for Part II. Pam

Nice tour, Terri. I think you win hands down for the best lottie so far. Is the pear tree on someone's plot? Or is it in a general area available for the picking? It looks like it has been around for years, and producing nicely.

Hi Pam, Thanks for coming to visit, sorry I have been away so long but will continue with the tour soon.
If your plot gets overgrown with weeds or is really messy the commitee send a letter or several thoughout the season. They have an inspection in early spring and give you until March 1st to clear it or you lose your plot! They have 26 on the waiting list, but usually it takes at least a year to clear the previous plot holders mess up!
You've got me curious about the red bottles, I will investigate the matter... lol

The pear tree is on Anitas plot, she has quite a few fruit trees including apricots (that reminded me of you and your apricot tree) she gave me a some the other day and I made some flapjacks and put some sliced up apricots in, yumm! It was a real treat to have fresh apricots they are quite expensive in the shops here.

Here we go, the corner plot.

This is a double plot, there are Apricots, pears and lots of fruits on this side..

A plum tree and veggies this side, with a greenhouse hidden behind the beans!

Cherry tree at the front on this plot, the plotholders gave us a bag of them last month.. delicious!

Plastic bottles with the tops cut off placed next to the tomatoes to water at the roots.

Budleia on this plot..

Pear and Apple trees at the front of this one, the rest of the plot is in a cage of netting, you can walk in!

Double plot, they have plum and Greeengage trees.

New greenhouse on this one, Nasturtiums at the front are pretty..
