Again in southern Ohio over the weekend.
CLOSED: A cool moth!
This moth is in the family Arctiidae; it may be the clymene moth, Haploa clymene - see http://tinyurl.com/nrkdmg for an image.
That is actually a Jesus Moth. j/k.....
dhg, that would be a common name. suunto and others here give the scientific names whenever possible.
I also saw Cecropia moths, a Luna moth, and I told my son the weekend would be complete if I saw a Regal moth. I found 1 wing of a Regal moth as I was packing the car for the trip home. All of the moths ended up in the garage, but the were drawn to it by the light out side, here is the Luna. I took a bunch of bug photos, but I know what the rest are.
