I pulled the pictures from my scouting camera this weekend. The picture is from lower Dorchester County, Maryland (heavy Marsh Area)
Look near the top of the middle leg of the feeder…what is that? ….zoom in on it to get a better look
-It has 5 sections, the center section appears to glow or reflect.
-It only appears in 2 pictures (timer set to 1 minute delay)
-It moved from the side of the pole to the middle in the pictures.
-Keep in mind that the poles are 2”…so I’d say it was some type of larva or caterpillar but it’s way too big. Compared to the deer’s leg I would guess it’s almost 6” long.
-The sections are almost perfect and are barely attached to each other
-You really can’t tell which is the head end and which is the tail
-It isn’t on any other pictures (before or after) so it didn’t crawl up the pole
NEVER have seen anything like this!!!!!!!
Your image as provided will not 'zoom in' in any regard. Could you enlarge the area of interest an resubmit? It does not look like any insect that I am familiar with.
