is this a Manduca sexta? Seemed twice the size of Hyles lineata (White-lined sphinx) I usually see around here.

It sure looks like it, it has the six spots on its abdomen. Great picture!

Thanks Claypa. The White-lined sphinx hang around day and night but this guy flew in right after it got dark. The 4 o'clocks were just opening.
