I found these growing on the underside of the leaves of my Plum tree. They aren't a worm. They are soft and hang down from the leaves. What are they and how do I get rid of them? They are not on all the trees, just a cluster of them.
CLOSED: Bug?
These appear to be spindle galls formed by tiny mites in the family Eriophyidae. Although unsightly, they are unlikely to seriously harm the tree. It's too late to apply any control now, but you might check with your county extension service office to see if there is anything you could apply next spring, shortly after bud break.
