I need to move my Wax Penstemon as it is way to big for the spot it's in and I need to know if I can cut the seed stalks off now and let them finish ripening on the stalk without the mother plant. It has finished blooming and has tons of seed heads. I would like to harvest the seed for planting next spring.
Hope someone can help me with this.

War Axe Penstemon
It's better to leave the stalks on the plant. Only if they are almost ripe, you can take the stalk off. Penstemon seeds need a lot of time to ripe. If they are not ripe, they are not viable.
