Hi - hoping you can help. My mom has a large mandevilla that overwintered in her house. Along the way it developed an infestation of some sort of bug - it looks like little cotton balls on the backs of leaves and on the branches.
Any idea what it is and how to get rid of it?

Sounds like mealybugs. They are notorious for hitching a ride inside. There are a variety of pesticides you can use available from your local garden center, including insecticidal soap which is the least toxic. Or, grab a small container, some Q-tips and good old rubbing alcohol. Dip the cotton swab in alcohol and apply to the bug, wipe it away and go for the next one. When you are through, give the plant a good rinse with the hose. Keep an eye out and do the same for any new bugs you see. Hope that helps.
