Found in Kaluga reg. on the edge of the forest. flies with some noise, the size about 2 cm (0,8 inch)

A clearer photo would be helpful; as it is, I can only guess that one possibility is a syrphid fly in the tribe Merodontini - see http://tinyurl.com/nxseny for an example.

Wow Suunto. I'm impressed. That's exactly what it looked like. I thought that would be real tough to identify one, because that happened to be the best image I managed to conjure up. I feared to loose the opportunity to capture that evasive kind of creature.
