Yesterday was my last day with the little sweetie. For her, it was a day like any other.
It was sad giving her up, but you know, it's for the best. I've already heard from the rehabber that she is doing well in her new surroundings.
So, here we go on my last batch of images…
Lucky Ducky… A duck on a pond, pt. 2
Marna, I can imagine how you'd miss your little friend. My hat is off to ya for doing what's best for the precious one. Keep us posted how she adapts to the new home you've found for her.
Wonderful shots of the fast growing little girl. I love the one with the dog!
I'm sure your sad but I can't wait to hear the updates. Are you going to visit her once?
I have asked to be there for the release. She said probably, but it would depend on where she would release. I"m not sure that I want to go visit though. We'll see how I feel in a few days. I could barely look at the pond last night without being sad. I"m such a sap.
Such sweet shots Marna..I know how much you must miss her...makes me tear up looking at her. You did well getting her to this stage...congratulations!
Yes you should be very proud!
Marna,
you did so good!!! Reminded me however of how difficult my very first release was when I did wildlife rehab. That was with a squirrel, though. However I did return a few times to the big tree with the nestbox that had been mounted for them. It really warmed my heart to see them playing in the woods and loving it. The first release of each type of animal was difficult. Eventually I became desensitized though and actually enjoyed the release, because being able to release them meant that I had done a good job.
I think a visit would let you see how well she has adapted and then you could be happy about it. Looking at your pond might bring smiles as you would be able to picture her swimming with her palls. And all because of your loving help!!
Well thanks everyone. It's not too bad really. I already feel better.
LOL Smile...it really does look like a smile! LOL The photos are priceless! Marna, you did such a super job. Lucky Ducky does not look so much like a baby anymore. I do hope the rehabber will keep you updated and that you get to see Lucky before she is released.
Kim
I'm so glad you posted all these last beautiful pictures. They all show the the love that you have shared with her. I send you my hugs for doing the best you could for that sweetie.
Can't wait to see more pictures if you get some. I know it's pretty lonely for you right now and I bet she's missing you too.
Duc, that did it. Someone please hand me and Marna some tissues. Sniff sniff.
awwww.....D & H are great pics!!
Marna, you did a fantastic job with that little duck! Now....would you like a kitten?? LOL
you guys are so funny.
Let me tell you, the cat was VERY happy that it did not get banished to the basement like it had been for 3 weeks! He slept with me all night long. I'm happy to have two dogs and a cat to keep me company.
Kim, glad you liked the happy face bum… it's hilarious!
I was glad to hear from the rehabber the the duck followed her from room to room, so she's definitely taken to her. She gets a much freer reign in the house there than here. Here she only got that when outside. I'm sure I'll get pictures and updates. This woman really seems to understand. The first thing she asked me when I got there was if I was doing alright. :D
Oh that's great!
Well done, Marna. I'm so glad you've got two dogs and a cat to keep you company. How is Ed, by the way?
Oh he's fine. He has FINALLY stopped asking me "Are you going to be alright?"
Awwww! hugs to both of you Marna and Ed. ^_^
These pictures will be, very fond memories for you. What a great job you did. I admire you for doing the right thing, although not easy. But you've brought something wonderful in our life, as well, by sharing her with us. I thank you.
Will be nice, to see pictures of her in the future, if you get any.
and perhaps next summer she'll come back to your pond to raise her family ^_^
oh, how cute are those babies!!!
Thanks!
Is that the Momcat? She looks very petite, yet to big to be a littermate of those babies
he has really fluffy bad fur !!
love that one in the back all stretched out.
What a wonderful experience you got to have! And thanks for sharing it with us!!
