CLOSED: Can anyone id this bug?

East Prairie, MO(Zone 7a)

I have this bug on my Coreopsis and it is eating the blooms before they can open up. I have put a mixture of peppermint, warm water and dish soap and it does not even phase them. Anyone got any suggestion on what to do about this.

Trackinsand is this an insecticide that would harm the butterflies or the bees? I like to stay with something that is safe

I dont think I have heard of this, where can you get this? I have to go to the garden center on Sunday, maybe I'll check there to see if they have it.

spinosad works only on leaf chewing/eating pests. yes, it will harm caterpillars. as far as the bees, it will not hurt them but i never spray anything during the day when bees are present. it has to be on the leaf eaten, so if you don't spray the other plants, your butterflies to be are safe.

i buy mine from ace hardware. it is called Fertilome Borer, Bagworm and Leafminer Spray. the active ingredient is spinosad, a bacteria which interrupts the digestive system of just about any insect that eats leaves. Greenlight brand also makes a spinosad spray but i believe it is more expensive.

Ok thank you trackinsand. I will try that. It seems that they just like those plants because I have some Rudbeckia beside them and they are bothering them.
