I planted Copper King
Is that what this is?
I'm counting on thi forum to solve a 2 year old question.
Need to know please
G, It looks more like Golden Scepter to me.. Hopefully one of the more experienced lily growers will be albe to help identify it.
Diann
I ordered 3 CopperKing bulbs from B&D lilies three years ago.
This is the only 1 of the 3 that remotely resembles CK. and when I posted it last year someone doubted the name.
The other 2 in the bunch are NOID's
1 is short and deep orange, the other is a pale creamwhite with pink on the back of the petals and a deep yellow throat/ they are going into the "no mans land" garden.I will replace w/ something else from Scheepers whose bulbs are better accuratly marked.
Often times if there is a mix up, emailing the grower, in this case B&D Lilies, may give you the best answer. They are usually really great at answering emails from their customers. I wish I knew what it was for certain, but with so many trumpets out there, it's hard to know.
Thanks for the effort.
It will just go into the "no-zone" for me
I don't know what its name is but it sure is a great looking lily !!
Gloria ;0)
Looks better than the pathetic thing I got sent to me labeled as Copper King...which was a substitute for the African Queen I had ordered! I trashed it last year. They are out of business now but out of like 6 different bulbs I ordered 1 was what it was supposed to be!
I was amazed when B&D Lilies did this.
They have a great reputation and I have been ordering from them for as long as they have been open, starting with the catalogue with the infant daughter on the cover.
The other orders at that time had problems too, DL's that were supposed to be a bonus for the mistake with Copper King and Moonlight strain , came tagged "Starling" but werent. It took til this year for me to id the lily they sent mislabled. 'Red Thrill" I am happy with it and realize these mistakes happen all the time but Twice in a row was a bit much.
Last year there were four mistakes with lilies mislabeled for my gardens. It's a headache!
You are so carefull with colors and spend a lot of time concieving arrangements in your garden.
I can imagine there is a lot of relocation.
