Willing to share your clay or glass design techniques?

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

I really struggle with decorating my pieces. I'm not very artistic, and I can't draw a lick. Usually my pots are really plain, and I'd like to change that.

The tiles I've made pay homage to Mexican and Spanish work, but I worked really hard to develop my own designs. I'm sure they're not unique, but at least I didn't copy them directly from anyone else. I don't seem to be able to translate these designs to pots, however. I also love Native American designs, but since that's not my ethnicity I'd like to translate the techniques, rather then the designs themselves, into my own style.

I've seen some work I really admire using stamped designs that I think I'd like to try, and I'd also like to try incorporating my plants and leaves into decorations on my work.

What techniques do you use to embellish your clay or glass work and make it your own?
