Please help ID spider

Clermont, FL

Pretty large (at least silver-dollar sized) I assume female spider. Dark body with striped legs. Appears to have killed a suitor in her web. Built large web in the eaves of our pool screen. We are in Central Florida. Can anyone ID? I thought perhaps a banana spider but her legs look striped, not hairy and she has a brown body. (I am just assuming a "she" as she is larger than her "friend" who was alive a few days ago in her web.) Guess she got tired of him, lol.

P.S. The criss-crosses you see are actually part of her woven web, not our pool screen. Her web is not attached to the screen but you can see the screen in the background. This is kind of an upside-down pic because her (what I assume to be) mate is actually below her when you look up at the web. Hope this makes sense!

This appears to be one of the orb weavers in the genus Argiope (garden/writing spiders) - see http://tinyurl.com/2mmbs9 - I suspect that the object in the web more likely is a shed 'skin' from a previous molt rather than the remains of a meal.

Thank you so much. I think it does resemble this one: Argiope aurantia - of all the photos I saw on that website, especially the weave pattern of criss-cross . I wasn't sure what that was below her, or if it was part of the spider itself (Too scared to get up on a ladder and get close, lol!) but above her in the photo you can see what I think *was* her mate.
Thank you so much I am pretty sure that might be it!
