I have a wooden trellis and over the last few days have noticed some little egg case like things that look like they are dangling from spider webs. A few are attached to the trellis. Today they look like they are changing form and maybe something is hatching. I have seen some adult wasps or bees of some kind in that same area. Are these wasp eggs? I'm sure they're something common, but I've never seen them before. Could you tell me the name of the insect if that's what they are? Also how to get rid of them?

Are these wasp eggs of some type?
These are case-bearing caterpillars known as bagworms (Lepidoptera:Psychidae); some species, such as Thyridopteryx ephemeraeformis, feed preferentially on cedars and their relatives, and can be serious defoliators - see http://tinyurl.com/mcr3yg.
Thanks. Now I guess I know what killed my arborvitae that is right next to this trellis.
