I finally got a plant of Mitraria coccinea and I'd appreciate anyone's experience with it. From what I know it's a rambling shrub and there is some great comments from Ursula. Anyone have experience with it?
Mitraria coccinea - Experience?
Not personally familiar with it, but looked up, seems it is very sensitive to drought or dry conditions, needs constant moisture. The native habitat is temperate rainforest, with 250cm or more annual rainfall. I suspect you'd need to go to the west coast of Vancouver Island for it to do well.
Some in gardens in Ireland are reported climbing to 6m height in trees.
