CLOSED: Common Beetle Needs ID
This beetle is in the family Scarabaeidae; it appears to be Anomala orientalis, a species known as the Oriental beetle - see http://tinyurl.com/o48flm for an image. Its larvae (grubs) can be quite damaging to the roots of turf grasses. Please note that the color pattern of this beetle can be quite variable.
Thanks; that's some good info.
