My sister found this larvae on her ageratum. It is one of the most unusual critters I have seen! Could it be in the Synchlora genus? Thanks.
CLOSED: ID anyone?
This is almost certainly in the genus Synchlora, as I believe that it is the only genus in its family (Geometridae) that so decorates itself. It likely is the camouflaged looper, Synchlora aerata (see http://tinyurl.com/lt4s66); known as the wavy-lined emerald as an adult moth (see http://tinyurl.com/l7kazz).
THanks so much! I'll check out the web sites. Cool.
