Xiung Morning Glories China Vast Potential for Everyone Here

Birmingham, United Kingdom

Hello

I have looked through previous threads and I am wondering what is the difference between Xiung Chinese and Berry Ice; they look like one and the same flower to me however I have not grown it.

Are the Xiung morning glories distinct to any other cultivator?

I have never had any contact with China except for the yellow morning glories but there must be potential unknown cultivators and species because China seems very much cut off from the outside world and communicating taking into account the political situation and language barrier must be difficult.

I thought it would be great to try and get in contact with seed traders in China but I don't know the language and I searched Dave's Garden.

Does anyone know how I can get hold of Xiung and which country he is based in or perhaps he can get hold of his family.

As I am here in the UK and have had conversations with Richard (Dick) Brummitt at Kew Gardens he might be interested and it would be fantastic to open up trade with China for everyone here.

How would we trade with Xiung and get seeds in and out of the country and how would we arrange payment?

I got excited when I realised these could have some cold tolerance here in the UK so the genetic potential is vast, it could be a win win situation.

Ray,
For me Berry Ice is more velvet and more dark pink he is blooming like creasy and 101 % of fertility ( fool of pollen ), Xiong's Chinese has more lime foliage.
At the moment I have Berry Ice and later Xiong's . I will make a comparison pic .

I was in touch with gardener Xiong several years ago. I met this person, as it were, on one of the seed exchange lists that are on Yahoo Groups. I exchanged one big set of seeds and thought it was a mutally agreeably happy event. We started talking about another trade and Xiong disappeared, never to answer another email from me. I can try to make contact again but am not optimistic for a response.
