I have this lily that I believe is starting to double bloom. I think that is what it is called? At this time I'm not sure what lily it is. I've kept lists of what I've purchased but never marked where I've planted them.
I've learned alot in this forum, please let me know what you think. My lilies this year have been very damaged due to lily bettles, rain and thus slugs so please disregard any damage that you notice in the plants.
Thanks
Debbie
Noid Lily Possible Double Blooms?
That's a cool lily. Do you know it's name?
Ticker,
I'm not sure I've planted orange delight & freedom's glow (records I kept). But, it doesn't look like their pictures. I'm starting to try & keep records & identify my lilies. For many years I just planted lily blubs (no records). Thus, I'm calling it a Noid. I've never seen this lily before. The petals seem to be doubling-if that is what is called? I wanted to check it out.
Debbie
Maybe one of the more experience lily growers will be in to tell you what's going on with your lily. I know I've seen it before on here, I just don't remember what it's called. It is pretty, tho. :)
Debbie, what do you mean by "double blooming"—an extra layer of petals? If that's what you meant, I understand, because when I saw the double layer of petals on the Fata Morgana, I went tearing through the bags that I had saved.
The bag of bulbs came from Costco. Their package descriptions are generally accurate because unlike the big box home stores and a few others, the packages are complete, and cannot be opened by the public. Sometimes, however, it takes more than one season for the bloom to look like the picture on the package. Still waiting for the foxtail lilies, but the callas (zantedeschias) are gorgeous this year.
On the other hand, if that's not what you mean by double blooming, I am lost. You still do a fabulous job with your garden. I saw the violets and such on your other postings.
cathy166, by "double blooming", not sure it is called that, but yes like Fata Morgana. I believe that some how this flower has changed. I have never purchased a lily like this. The way it looks now, I definately would. I think it is very pretty (better then it was before.)
For years I just purchased lilies (almost anywhere) and just put them in the ground. I tried to keep a list of what I purchased for about the last ten years. Now I'm trying to identify what I have-using it as a learning experience to learn more about lilies. Also trying to learn the right lingo-to know what the experienced lily people are talking about. I still get quite confused-but I'm learning. I also have began to purchase lilies from the sellers that have been mentioned in this forum. What difference! I purchase one from Buggy & in its second year is over seven feet high.
Debbie
