Marie, tropical hibs would love a Jersey summer and can do well indoors during the winter. They need a sunny window and some careful watching for insects when you first bring them inside in the Fall. The change in environment from outdoors to in seems to leave them vulnerable to critters but knowing what to look out for makes it an easy transition.
Blooms From Ft Lauderdale From The Last Week
I tried that last year, with not any luck. Critter, yes I had them. But they were the same critters that I get on my pussy willow. I think it was some kind of aphid.
I need a sun room , hey hubby start building me that sun room.
My parents overwinter a few each year inside. They stay ok, but perhaps they don't get enough sunlight as they never bloom for them during the winter. They move them back outside at the end of May and it takes them several months before they see any blooms.
I do not have the window that will let in enough sun during the winter to keep them in side. My back windows face the south and the only room that I can put them in is the small office, so hubby gets upset that I take up so much space with plants.
LOL. I've heard that scenario before when it comes to my mom trying to bring the yard inside for the winter up north.
