mnorberry, your lilies are magnificent! You should be so proud of your hard work to get these beautiful species (I think) lilies from seed. I'm just learning about lilies.

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Very cool!

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

Napelense - very impressive.

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

Excellent lilies, all of them!

Are you sure that first pink one is from davidii (orange) and tigrinum (orange)? In addition, neither designated parent produces spots in the form of your hybrid. Nor does either parent species show the concave shape across the petals that is so evident (and really adds to the beauty). These are all characteristics common to the Lilium lankogense/duchartrei/wardii clan. These are a bit more difficult to breed than davidii and tigrinum. Kudos to you!!!

P.S. For the second to last, did you mean Lilium davidii var. wilmottiae?

Arcata, CA(Zone 9b)

I received the seeds and labeled what was on the package. I just rechecked and that is all they typed on the envelope. You could be right. I will find the name of the company/person I got the seeds and find their website. Thanks for the information.

I purchased the seeds from Cascade. Here is the label..

I don't know where I got L. Willmottiae seeds, here is the label....

For the Cascade seeds, I think you may have an interloper there. After reviewing my old seed lists, I see that Joe did some work with Tinkerbell as a pollen parent with both davidii and tigrinum. Backcrosses to davidii and tigrinum were common. So ultimately you most likely have a davidii/tigrinum/cernuum hybrid there.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Whoever they are, they are all beautiful! Nice job!

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Hey my records show I have some of those packets somewhere in my freezer. Not AL-116 but 117 and 118, both davidii/cernuum hybrids. Maybe they aren't as boring as I thought they might be!

You go pard!

Ohio Valley, IN(Zone 6b)

Scherezade started to open today. There are more than 150 buds and flowers in this clump. This is my biggest and most successful lily.

Mnorberry, I'm loving your L. pardilinum and your Davidii grex. Very nice work.

I noticed that they don't have little seeds on their stems like the Tiger Lily

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

I don't think the stem bulbil trait is always passed on.

Here is the complete description of seed packet AL-812:

"Tigrinum and wilsonii combine well and produce nice seedlings in the F2 generation. The F1's were produced from several clones of tigrinum crossed with several clones of wilsonii, including wilsonii flavum, and then selectively intermating these F1's to produce this F2 population. The wide wilsonii base adds interesting segregation potential in the F2 generation. Nice seedlings for gardening, especially for the late summer garden, but many of these seedlings will be good breeding stock."

Do you have more lilies from this packet that you expect to bloom?

Arcata, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes, I have about 40 small bulbs that developed out of these seeds that I repotted on 8-30-08. These are the first to bloom. I will post any that blooms.

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

That pic you posted is a most excellent first year bloom. Bravo!

They're both nice ~ the second one especially pretty.

Keep those postings coming. You've got some pretty nice stuff there.

Arcata, CA(Zone 9b)

As I have stated before, in 2007 I tried to set seed just to see if I could. One of them was Star Gazer and any other that was blooming at the time. Unknown because I did not keep records. Here are two seedling that just bloomed this week.

I really like the light yellow color of that last seedling with the dark spots. Nice!

I like it too. It represents my favorite type of lily.
