Thanks I also cant resist a container.
I had lived on a small lot and being the driveway couldnt be used I put containers there.
When we moved here 2 years ago I brought 12 with me.
Ive added 4 this year because the cheap fiberglass ones are looking bad and some are cracked.
I'll be down to 10 next spring.
This is the old driveway w/ containers
This was August 2004
Little Yard Tour of containers
Love it... I have poked containers in the strangest places for some green or color...
What a quaint driveway! Looks good to me!
I think its the best solution for a small yard.
Yep! Off to work for me! Have a great day!

A great transformation Joannabanana
Joanna- your garden looks great. How many months do you get to enjoy it, and what do you do with all the pots during your long winter? We used to have friends from Edmonton who lived in San Diego Mid-Sept to mid-May due to not being able to tolerate the cold (medical reasons). That must translate to plant life too? Our 'dormant' period is like other desert areas and is about 3 summer months.

That's about right Mid September for 1st frost and Mid May for last frost. although this year is a little whacked. This week we have had record high temperatures. It's like we are getting August weather in September, which has been a treat. I move alot of my canna lilies, geraniums, begonias and stuff to my daughter's school atrium and help look after the indoor garden thru the winter....then I take them all back in the spring. I store the dahlias in a heated garage. The rest is compost. I put the potting soil in the flower beds. All my roses that are in containers spend the winter in the veggie garden with lots of peat moss mulched up about a foot. In Feb I start the madness again with seeding petunias and a number of annuals & tomatoes. In March I start my greenhouse up and start some stuff in there. I also do some wintersowing in March.
I had really good luck direct sowing poppies last year.
That is such a wonderful use of space. I just love all the views
Your yard is beyond words. Your neighbors must be GREEN with envy, I know I would be. All your hard work shows.

Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful!
The Trampoline, did you make an archway with it? I have one with Wisteria growing on it.
Beautiful pictures.
You purchased a nice house but your talent has obviously turned it into a home!!!! Congrats!!! Looks great!!!!
Boy that is not a sight that any gardener looks forward too!!! I have a terrible time with depression shortly after our 1st hard frost!!!! Of course you know we don't have weather like yours but once in a Blue Moon!!!!
On Monday morning it was -16ºC, which is 3ºF. Record low and wiped everything out. It was sad.
NOOOO!!! We don't even want to get that cold!!!! We had the 4th or 5th snow of my life time last year but it was maybe 30 degrees and warmed up from there. LOL!!! I don't know how Yall can stand 3 degrees. Hibernate?
Hope the weather warms up a little for you to do your clean-up, joanna. I like 15-20 degrees and snow, but 3 degrees is a bit too cold... especially if the wind is blowing!
I agree, winter is the time for catalogs!!! I love to gather my catalogs and sit with a cup of hot cocoa, my lap blanket, and Post-Its and pen...and dream....
