What kind of ipomoea am I?

Toronto, ON(Zone 5b)

Hello,

I know I have posted this picture in one of the threads, but just wondering if this cotyledon is I. nil. I got it from a mixture of hederacea, tricolor, purpureas and nils. It's gigantic and it looks like I. nil, but I haven't grown any moonflower so might this be also a moonflower cotyledon?

hi Eliz... i belive that is an ipomoea turbinata...

Eliz - Here is a photo of my Moonflower cotyledons for comparison. This, btw, is one of the vines I watered with bleach. :-( Though the brown on the one leaf happened before the bleach incident. It got fried by the heat one day and burned that leaf.

If you planted Moonflower, then that is probably what those huge leaves are! :-) Wait until you see the blooms ... Oh My!!! :-) :-) :-) :-) And the smell is divine! :-) :-) :-)

The true leaves started off small for me and then got bigger as they started climbing my Arbor. I have quite a few of them growing around my yard. These were the last to germinate. Took them 3 months! HA! The others germinated within 3 weeks and have been blooming for over a month!

Setosa has a huge cotyledon also.. this is in May, it is all over the fence now.. one of the moon vines has little "nubby spines" and the other one is smooth.. the setosa is hairy on the stem..

here is a night shot from three nites ago of my vine corner on the patio.. here you can see the two moon vines how different they are, and the one to the farthest left is flying saucers ( I thought from you) .. tonight they are to the top and hanging over, I have to weave them down..

There are many moon vines within the family Convolvulaceae, including both I. alba and I. turbinata - love them all.

Karen - Well ... duh!!! I did not realize that I. turbinata is a night bloomer. When I hear Moonflower, I always think of I. alba vines. Sheesh! That went right over my head ...

Debra - Great shots of your seedlings! When Eliz gets blooms, then we'll know for sure what species it is! :-)

yes will do have to wait for the blooms. I have never grown alba or the purple ones and I was just so surprised that it was gigantic lol Thanks guys for the help. I will post some pictures up if it blooms
