I found a spider in a bowl of fruit I was eating outside, but wasn't able to snap a picture.
1. It was dark brown, on the smaller side, and had a large abdomen.
2. On the BACKSIDE of its abdomen it had a large orangish spot that was outlined in white.
3. The inside of the orange spot had a white and black design.
The closest desciption I've found was a brown widow, none of the images I found had the symmetry and intricacy of the spider I saw. I live in Massachusetts, but I'm not sure if the spider is normally found in this region. Any ideas?

It might be a jumping spider (family Salticidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/l38hu7 to see if the general configuration of this spider resembles what you saw.
Thanks! It was Phidippus clarus - one of the jumping spiders
