I have seen at least a dozen of these little things crawling around my apartment. They aren't very big, maybe 1.5 cm. They move very quickly and I didn't notice them until it got dark out. They are on the carpet, heating vents, and the shower/tub. I reside in South Dakota, USA. What are they?
Thank you for your help in advance!!
CLOSED: What kind of bug is this?
This is a young earwig (order Dermaptera). They essentially are harmless (occasionally, they may damage very tender vegetation, such as seedlings in greenhouses), but definitely can be nuisance pests when found indoors. See http://tinyurl.com/ko52ap for a fact sheet that includes control recommendations.
