CLOSED: Please help identify this huge spider found near my house!

Edelstein, IL

I found this spider last week inside our screened in porch. I live in the woods in central Illinois so bugs are normal, but this spider seems very threatening. The spider stayed in relatively the same place for a few hours until we tried to kill it. When threatened it moved fairly quickly. I think it's some kind of wolf spider but I'm not sure exactly what kind. The closest I've seen is a Brazilian Wolf Spider or Brazilian Wandering Spider but the spider didn't act as aggressive as the descriptions for those spiders suggest...

Please help me identify this spider! I want to know if it is dangerous so I know if I need to take precaution and spray for spiders!

This spider is not dangerous to humans, the worst it could do would be to deliver a painful bite if it was handled carelessly. It is in the family Pisauridae (fishing/dock/nursery web spiders); likely the dark fishing spider, Dolomedes tenebrosus - see

Thanks so much! :)
