Victor, Those are June Bugs. BEV

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Bev. Do they do damage as well?

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Not that I know of. I have seen a few here for all my life and not heard of them doing damage outside of flying in your face or hair or making a squish on your windshield. LOL

Thanks. Just found this damage on my JM Peaches and Cream. Might be JBs.

I used a systemic and they have left the roses alone pretty much so far. I just didn't realize they loved to feast on Zebra Malva. Sneaky SOB's

I would hate to use anything that will kill the good guys too.

The adults lay eggs in the lawn so larva can eat the roots. I remember seeing the lawn erupt with them as they hatched on a hot summer day and having skunks tear up the rootless turf for grubs. I got fed up with the JBs and applied Milky Spore on the entire lawn. That was 15+ years ago, problem solved by 85%.
Milky Spore is a natural live organism that attacks JBs exclusively and lives for decades as long as you don't use pesticides. I spot treat with the nasty pesticides for the dreaded Red lily beetles, aphids and ants but never broadcast it.
I couldn't be happier with this natural product.
