Time for egg comparison.......

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

LOL sounds like out chickens chasing each other over a chipmunk leg LOL

Conroe, TX

A chipmunk leg???? Now I am curious.....

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I can handle snakes.. but spiders?? NO I don't use a broom.. use a shop vac! I was cleaning the barn with a broom only to feel something inside my pant leg later.. Shop vac with a long extension now..

My mom got bit by a brown recluse right on her neck.. it was only as big as a quarter.. (legs and all) tiny lil thing! Mom was in her 70's and was allergic to the anti venom at the hosp.. it was horrible.. from such a tiny lil thing that looked like a baby daddy long leg..

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

oh yes smedgekles. We had 4 leghorn hens, and they chased each other around the yard with something in there mouth. My boyfreind wanted to know what they had, so he cornered the one who had it...........it was a chipmunk leg. He said it looked like they where playing football. No idea where they got it or what happened to the rest of the chipmunk. I can only guess with those girls.

Conroe, TX

yep, that little bitty thing can sure carry a big punch. How did your Mom do? Did she have a lot of problems with it healing, did she get really sick? I remember my brotehr n law got really sick. I was a little girl at the time but I still remember how awful that bite looked.

Conroe, TX

Oh my, chipmuck leg tag. Too funny but yuck.

(Zone 7b)

Spiders oh i love those they catch all the mosquitoes at my coops i don't bother them.
Snakes we have several kind both poisonous and not my dog has been bit so often from killing them he is immune to the poison.
He was hobbling this past week and i saw a distinct bite on his leg it was blackish blue knot with those familiar 2 holes.
He got bit at least 4 times last year and has killed 3 snakes already this one i know when i hear him barking in the woods he has found one.

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

We have brown recluses here, they are all over the place in certain areas. The kids I babysit get bit all the time. Someone a long time ago told their dad that if you keep a tazer on low & zap the bite in 6 points all the way around it will kill the venom & will heal. Works every time, on lil bites, nasty big bites. Never any tissue rot or anything. I for one avoid them at all costs bc I am as scared of the tazer as I am of the spiders. :)

Conroe, TX

Yes, I heard that about the tazer. Not sure I would want to do that either, so I'll avoid them.

(Zone 7b)

Tazer that sounds painful OUCH!!

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

I don't wish to be tazered.. tho i have been when they had to do one of the kids.. she refused till they got me bc if i said it didn't hurt she knew I wouldn't lie to her.. so i had to be brave & pray i could tell her it didn't hurt well enough she would let them do it. Surprisingly it tickled.. its more the fear of the sound that gets me than anything. Its on really low voltage but it works. IF i get bite I"ll go that route. I might scream & yell & freak out till they get me with it.. but honestly it didn't hurt. The thing just sounds scary even on low. but i do not intend on getting bit. i hate spiders.. they are evil creepy things. :)

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Want my cat greykyttyn? He eats spiders. We are pretty much spider free if he can get to them.

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

So if you go to the docs with a brown recluse bite they'll tazer you? Or do you have to go down to the police station and ask to have it done? ;)

(Zone 7b)

Ha~Ha~Ha~Ha~Ha Go to the police station, i can just imagine the look on their face when you ask them to be "Tazered"

Conroe, TX

Good question though, how do you get tazered if you get bitten.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Well you just go to your handy-dandy tazer cabinet, which of course you keep locked in the basement, and you choose your favorite one. I have at least a dozen, all painted pretty colors...

(kidding...)

(Zone 7b)

Ha~Ha~Ha~Ha~Ha Claire you know how to make me laugh "pretty colored tazers"

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

:p the kids dad owns two tazers. I know several people around here that keep them. They hike a lot in the mountains & were told to carry them for some reason can't remember what.

We are in the middle of hickville but i doubt our docs carry tazers into the office. Usually I think you have to knwo someone that has one. besides if people knew it works at least 90% they wouldn't go to the doc & who else is going to pay for the 3 corvettes, 2 houses, motorcycle, hummer & putting their kids thru college?

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

This is tempting... Hummmm if no one knew the manager had a tazer.. .he he heeee

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Hmmmmm ZZ, I would like one for my manage, but not for her to use :p

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Just kidding!!! Really, I would never use it.. but if some of the kids thought I had one, they might think twice about all the vandalism..

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

I was kidding too, I think.

Clarkson, KY

I took you ALL most seriously, lol.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Grow..

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

I could use one on my misbehaving llamas....

(KIDDING!!!)

I would never use one on an animal, I think you all know that.

Now I can think of some people I would gladly tazer...

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

How did we go from egg sizes to tazers? LOL

Conroe, TX

Okay, back to eggs. Check out this one I found in the pen today. This was layed by Eagle. This is the first one she ever layed this big, usually they are average size.

LOL Me too Claire!

That is one whopper egg.. I bet that was a thrill to find!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

That's what I call a whopper!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Wow, that could be a double yolker!

Conroe, TX

ZZ, I bet it wasn't a thrill for her to lay though. Can you imagine. Poor thing . This is a picture of her in a nest.

She is beautiful. That is a cute pic!

Yeah.. The one that I have that is broody lays a double yolker most of the time.. Until I found out which one it was I thought it was this huge chicken.. but it's not! She is smaller! I feel bad every time I collected that egg.. even though it is a trophy!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

OMG, she looks alot like our Ruby.
Ruby did not want to have her picture taken, and this was in the shade.

Ruby is shy but pretty. Funny how chickens always want to turn their backs on cameras.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Thank you. Some of them just did not what to have their picture taken, but then there was our one girl who stood in front of me almost saying "Take my picture!"

What a pose. Such a dark comb against that white.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

She was the second one that stood right there for their picture to be taken. Footless was first in line. He seemed to want to have his picture taken too.

(Zone 7b)

Nice Chickens {:~)

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

That white in the last photo is a stunner. What kind is that?

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

she is our White Rock. A very friendly girl, big bird, but doesn't lay as big of and egg as our brown ones do.
