Yes, that shadow shot is great, Sis. I don't think I've ever seen one like it!
Hummingbird Adventures # 13
Sally, I agree, that's a great shadow picture!!
Sw, I love to read the happenings around your hummers. You describe everything so well. Yes, that was my Torch Lilies (aka Red Hot Pokers or Kniphofia). It's really a challange to get the flower and hummer in focus. I, too, take 200 or more photos a day of my birds and may just get one picture that's worth keeping. Persistence will pay off.
Sally, I am so happy that you were able to grab your camera and get such good photos! Happy Dance for Sally! : )
I too loved the shadow. Quite often I see the hummers shadows before I actually see them.
Today is overcast temp. when I came in was still 98 degrees, but the clouds are nice. The last few days have been really hot (over 100 degrees), and sunny. Might get a t.storm. Oh goody! Just the thought of rain raises my spirits. : )
Thanks for the nice things you said, duc. I've always been a good wordsmith, used to write professionally.
I am going to post a few photos from Sat. & Sun. I'm behind on posting again, but I'll catch up.
Here is Zippy on Saturday morning.
No color, but a nice photo of a BCH. Last for now. I'm caught up I think. Thinking gets me into trouble, so I'll stop while I'm ahead. LOL!
I also enjoy reading about your H.Bird adventures. I wish I had my camera in hand and ready all the time, but it is impossible to weed with your camera in your hand. Word pictures will have to do for those times we have a memorable experience with the little hummers.
Glad I half got the name of the plant right. I should try them again sometime.
WIB!
SW
Ah, SW, those photos of the B**CH dodging you were so funny! What a HOOT!
Sally, that shadow photo was amazing! WOW!
Linda
Thanks everyone. What was really funny about that shadow, my camera is full, I need to download to the other computer (I like having the pics on both) and I actually had to erase some to be able to take those. Plus the sun was going down, that's where the shadow came from.
Forgot to say I am really enjoying ALL your hummers SW. Wish I could get more than two hanging around at a time. We're doing some deck work for the next week or so, probably won't have many visitors for a while.
Sally,
You can count on it. Hummers don't like disruptions to their schedules, but some are curious. Ya never know.
Took this one yesterday. Think it's Zoom. He was guarding that feeder. They are funny that way. I know from watching him, that he perches and waits for interlopers just so he can chase them off. Kind of fuzzy, cause I had to crop it. Look at his rapier shaped beak!
Maybe they're passing the word and bringing home visitors! LOL
