Ligularia stenocephala "little rocket"

Fort Dodge, IA

I have a Ligularia stenocephala "little rocket" that I got from Earl May this year. The plant is starting to go to seed. In the plant files http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/124164/ under Seed Collecting it says:
N/A: plant does not set seed, flowers are sterile, or plants will not come true from seed

Is this true? I thought I read of people starting the larger Ligularia stenocephala from seed but it says the same thing under that plant.

Its probably true.I have the Marie Britt Crawford Rocket. It gets flowers which set seed.I heard the seeds were sterile.I tried to germinate them anyways.Nothing,I mean nothing. If you want more plants you gotta divide. It took years to get it to a nice size. Its beautiful.I don't want to mess with it.Maybe some day.Edge

I posted this over at on the seed trade board and someone said I may get plants but they might just be the larger rocket and not the dwarf. I guess I'll plant a few of the seeds and see what happens.

Thats what I thought. That the seeds would germinate, just wouldn't be true.I figured,I would get something. But like I said, nothing.Good luck with your venture.Your not out anything but time. Its part of the gardening experience to experiment and its fun.Go for it.Edge
