hi all,
this little puppy is just slightly longer than a lady bug. it's spots maybe more orange than the pic shows, it BITES, hard (me and the dogs), it flies and this is the 1st time in 15 years i've ever seen it. it has chewed the POO out of mostly my dayliles but is an equal opportunity muncher . oh, and they're fast moving.

thanks a bunch

This is a lady beetle (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae), namely Coleomegilla maculata - see http://tinyurl.com/nlgld8 for an image. They are quite common in our area of West Virginia.
