It's a great feeling being able to go out and pick what you want for lunch!

Lovely veggies Louise. How fun to have them fresh from the garden.

Thank you my dear friend. DH does have quite the little garden. We've really enjoyed it so far and the best is yet to come.

Tell Tony he done good!!!

Still laughing at my DH's veggie garden. He won't listen to me, he is battling gophers. I told him how to remove them forever (thanks DP!), but he has to do it the hard way. First poison grain, then bombs, and now traps.
Then there is how he prepared the ground for planting. Waste of water to plant and not use drip irrigation here. Won't use mulch either.
The worst is when I tell him to remove all but one or two of the fruits from the pumpkin vine if he wants a really big pumpkin. He wants to whack back the vine, and doesn't get it that the fruit needs the leaves to get big and fat. It doesn't need the extra pumpkins and he should thin them out.
I refuse to go out there and will be planting my veggies in my flower beds.
I salute you on your lovely veggies. I am actually drooling but my key board is starting to complain, so I'd better quit. Well done Louise and Tony!

LOL SW!! I bought that gopher gasser but I have to use a car with a bigger exhaust pipe, mine's too small.
Thanks you so much SW, tonight I'll be making stuffed bell peppers!

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

Beautiful !!!! We are just starting to enough our veggies and herbs, so good!

Something's eating my bean plants again! grrrrr....

SW, I thin our apples that way, too. A couple of them set way too many fruits on a stem and they don't grow properly or get infested with something - they need air! We're hoping we have the bird netting on in a way to keep the squirrels out this year - we didn't get one ripe apple last year, and they decimated the citrus trees this spring! Tell DH to give straw bales a try - no gophers. :-)

Today I'll also be making brushetta with our tomatoes, basil and garlic! Have it on some garlic bread, yummy!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I have some sitting out there weathering as we write, and I told DH I want all the old musty smelling bales of straw for my garden. I'm going to try to figure out where I can make a compost pile. Someplace that it will be contained, easy to access, and the wind won't blow it all over creation.
You really have to come visit me some time soon. And vice versa. I think I owe you a visit. Let me figure this out. Somehow before the summer is over, I want to come see you, Louise. You'll have custody of my God Baby. I'll make it happen. Just got to take it one step at a time.
Then there is the classic car road trip. No excuse to sit around doing nothing!
KC, DH knows bees and the honey producing plants. He knows weather and geology. He's scares car salesmen when he whups out his calculator, but he isn't used to getting into the dirt and watching things grow. If he was, he wouldn't keep killing my stuff with the weed whacker! LOL!
Time for snail bait? Or is it those tiny green grasshoppers? LOL!

Could be either - I'll be baiting today, but what can one do about those stinking grasshoppers? We have both the tiny ones and the HUGE ones, which I think are what has stripped the mallow tree out front. The trunk is big, but every leaf is stripped as soon as it comes out. grrrrr

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I catch them and feed them to my kids' Bearded Dragon. He likes the green ones best. The brown ones fight back, so he munches their heads first, when he eats them. The hard part is catching the hoppers. LOL! Sorry, it's not really any help, but the birds do eat them, and my cats kill them too. Leave them as "gifts" for me. LOL!

Only photo I could find of Draco. (The Bearded Dragon) DH found that mouse next to his desk. Don't know if the cat hurt it, but it wasn't moving much. Mouse was gone the next day, and Draco's belly was fat. I'd rather stick to feeding him grasshoppers, crickets and mealie worms, but if the cats don't eat the mouse, Draco might as well. I hate rodents in the house, so good riddance to the mouse, good meal for Draco.

Great looking and I bet , even better tasting veggies, Louise .
I need to move my vegetable garden from its original place since it is not getting sun for almost half a year and it has lots of root competition from the surrounding trees.
Brushetta sounds so tasty . Yum !

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

Draco is a pretty big dragon SW. Glad that he's a good mouser.

Finally caught those squirrels in the act! They were crawling right over the wire fence we put around the straw bales. I told DH when we put it up that we should cut the edges and fold them out - he thought I was being picky. hmmmph!

Eugene, OR

Now don't pick on my BIL, not until he gets done with the stones. LOL

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Today we found a small dead lizard next to DH's desk. Think YS's cat is sneaking in with them. Draco is doing pretty good, and he's very mellow. A lot like a horny toad. I kept telling YS to take him out to the gh with him when he goes swimming so he can run around on the dichondra. He likes it out there.
These the little critters that are bedeviling you, KC?
Fed him to Draco right after I got this photo. The chickens like them too.
